Façade
Love insists our
hope
Hidden in winter’s façade.
A child. An image.
A memory. A promise.
Yet,
We shall unveil its wonder;
…The gift of tomorrow,
And why we love, today.Ó
When a child dies before or
after birth, parents experience the “the saddest of sadness, often bearing
profound grief, unremitting guilt and a sense of hopelessness that endures
despite efforts by friends, family, counselors and physicians. For all birth
orders, but most pronounced for those having first children, the parent’s loss
is accompanied by a very real and haunting fear that they will be childless and
without a natural family. Despite the best intentions and compassion by their
Doctors, statistics and examples, they mourn, absent of hope.
In this remarkable book, Amy
Abbey has bonded the ephemeral hopelessness and forsaken dreams of parents' lost
children with inherent passions and determinations central to all humankind.
With example after example, all the authors have shone light on the darkness of
despairing families. Here, hope surfaces from the depths of lifeless dreams. The
reader becomes transported and transformed, renewed and refreshed.
The words and stories and thoughts which follow emanate our pleas of why
we must allow hope to be imperishable and “why we love”, prevail.
